AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 40:964(Schedule II)(D) and to repeal R.S. 40:964(Schedule2
IV)(B)(4.1), relative to the Controlled Dangerous Substances Law; to provide for the3
composition of the schedules of the controlled substances; to provide for an4
exemption from certain requirements with respect to Carisoprodol; and to provide5
for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 40:964(Schedule II)(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as8
follows: 9
§964. Composition of schedules10
Schedules I, II, III, IV, and V shall, unless and until added to pursuant to R.S.11
40:962, consist of the following drugs or other substances, by whatever official12
name, common or usual name, chemical name, or brand name designated:13

D.(1) Depressants. Unless specifically excepted or unless listed in another17
schedule, any material, compound, mixture, or preparation which contains any18
quantity of the following substances having a depressant effect on the central19
nervous system, including its salts, isomers, or salts of isomers, whenever the20
existence of such salts, isomers, and salts of isomers is possible within the specific21
chemical designation:22

(2) (a) Amobarbital24
(b) Carisoprodol25
(3) (c) Glutethimide26

(2) A wholesale drug distributor licensed by the Louisiana Board of3
Pharmacy and registered with the United States Drug Enforcement4
Administration shall be exempt from the storage, reporting, record keeping,5
and physical security requirements for any material, mixture, compound, or6
preparation which contains any quantity of Carisoprodol.7

Section 2. R.S. 40:964(Schedule IV)(B)(4.1) is hereby repealed.9
