HEALTH/ACC INSURANCE. Relative to certain health maintenance organization
disclosures. (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 22:260(C), relative to health maintenance organizations; to2
provide with respect to certain disclosures; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 22:260(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:5

C. Every health maintenance organization shall make available in writing to8
its potential enrollees a reasonable explanation of the services to be provided or9
arranged for as well as a listing, either in writing or by reference to a website, of10
all service providers with whom the health maintenance organization has a11
contract at the time.  This explanation shall also identify those services excluded12
from coverage and shall set forth the methods of access to all forms of treatment or13
class of providers included in the plan.14

Present law requires every health maintenance organization to make available in writing to
its potential enrollees a reasonable explanation of the services to be provided or arranged for.
Also requires identification of those services excluded from coverage as well as the methods
of access to all forms of treatment or class of providers included in the plan.
Proposed law retains present law and also requires disclosure of a listing, either in writing
or by reference to a website, of all service providers with whom the health maintenance
organization has a contract at the time of potential enrollment.
Effective August 1, 2014.
