(8/1/14) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 22:260(C), relative to health maintenance organizations; to2 provide with respect to certain disclosures; and to provide for related matters.3 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4 Section 1. R.S. 22:260(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:5 ยง260. Statutory construction; relationship to other laws6 * * *7 C. Every health maintenance organization shall make available in writing to8 its potential enrollees a reasonable explanation of the services to be provided or9 arranged for as well as a listing, either in writing or by reference to a website, of10 all health care providers with whom the health maintenance organization has11 a contract at the time. Nothing herein shall be interpreted to require a health12 maintenance organization to update the information in the listing or on its13 website more than once per month and such information shall be considered as14 timely under this Section. Also requires identification of those services excluded from coverage as well as the methods of access to all forms of treatment or class of providers included in the plan. Proposed law retains present law and also requires disclosure of a listing, either in writing or by reference to a website, of all health care providers with whom the health maintenance organization has a contract at the time of potential enrollment. Proposed law requires a health maintenance organization to update the information in the listing or on its website only once per month to be considered timely. Effective August 1, 2014. (Amends R.S. 22:260(C)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by Senate Committee Amendments Proposed by Senate Committee on Insurance to the original bill 1. Changes "service providers" to "health care providers". 2. Requires a health maintenance organization to update the information in the listing or on its website only once per month to be considered as timely.
