ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.  Provides relative to wine containers.  (8/1/14)
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 26:351(2)(a) and (4), relative to alcoholic beverages; to provide2
relative to size of certain wine containers and wine kegs sold or shipped into the3
state; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 26:351(2)(a) and (4) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows:7
ยง351. Limitation on size of containers of beverages of high alcoholic content;8
standards of fill9
Except for wines, no manufacturer or wholesaler in this state shall have in his10
possession any beverages of high alcoholic content outside of his bonded stockroom11
unless they are in containers of no greater capacity than 1.75 liters. The standards of12
fill shall be the following:13

(2)(a) All wine, sold in or shipped into this state shall be in the following15
containers: fifty-eight and five-tenths liters, twenty-nine and three hundredths16
liters, nineteen and five-tenths liters, eighteen liters, seventeen liters, sixteen liters,17 SB NO. 74

fifteen liters, fourteen liters, thirteen liters, twelve liters, eleven liters, ten liters, nine1
liters, eight liters, seven liters, six liters, five liters, four liters, three liters, one and2
five-tenths liters, one liter, seven hundred fifty milliliters, five hundred milliliters,3
three hundred seventy-five milliliters, three hundred fifty-five milliliters, one4
hundred eighty-seven milliliters.5

(4) Wines bottled subject to the standards of fill prescribed in Paragraph (2)7
above shall be packed with the following number of bottles per shipping case or8
shipping container:9

Morrell (SB 74)
Present law provides for bottle sizes and bottles per case for wine shipped into and sold in
the state.
Proposed law retains present law and authorizes 500 milliliter wine containers and 19.5 and
58.5 liter wine kegs to be shipped into and sold in the state.
Proposed law requires that wine containers size 5 - 58.5 liters be packaged with one bottle
