SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 1
BY SENATOR MILLS 
PUBLIC HEALTH.  Amends the communicable diseases reporting rules.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To amend the Department of Health and Hospitals, office of public health, rule LAC2
51:II.105(A)(4), to provide for the reporting of certain communicable diseases and3
conditions; to provide for the addition of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) to the4
reporting list; and to direct the Louisiana Register to print the amendments in the5
Louisiana Administrative Code.6
WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Hospitals, office of public health,7
promulgated a rule in 2002 providing for reportable diseases and conditions; and8
WHEREAS, R.S. 49:969 provides that the legislature, by concurrent resolution, may9
suspend, amend, or repeal any rule adopted by a state department, agency, board, or10
commission; and11
WHEREAS, the purpose of this Resolution is to add an additional communicable12
disease/condition that shall be reported to the Department of Health and Hospitals, office of13
public health.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of Louisiana that LAC15
51:II.105(A)(4) is hereby amended to read as follows:16
ยง105.  Reportable Diseases and Conditions17
A. The following diseases or conditions are hereby declared reportable with18 SCR NO. 1

reporting requirements by Class.1

4. Class D Special Reportable Diseases or Conditions Shall Require3
Reporting within Five Business Days4
a. This class shall include the diseases of significant public health concern.5
The following diseases/conditions shall be reported to the Office of Public Health by6
the end of the workweek after the existence of a case, suspected case, or a positive7
laboratory result is known:8
i. Cancer;9
ii. Monoxide exposure and/or poisoning;10
iii. Complications of abortion;11
iv. Congenital hypothyroidism

v. Galactosemia

vi. Heavy metal (arsenic, cadmium, mercury) exposure and/or poisoning (All14
Ages)

vii. Hemophilia

;16
viii. Lead exposure and/or poisoning (children)

viii ix. Pesticide-related illness or injury (all ages)

ix x. Phenylketonuria

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the27
office of the state register and the Department of Health and Hospitals, office of public28
health.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the office of the state register is hereby directed30 SCR NO. 1

to have the amendment to LAC 51:II.105(A)(4) printed and incorporated into the Louisiana1
Administrative Code and transmit a copy of the revised rule to the Department of Health and2
Hospitals, office of public health.3
