Requests the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians to educate its members of state and federal programs available to children with developmental disabilities and advise parents and guardians of such programs when such a diagnosis is made. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To urge and request the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Louisiana Academy of2 Family Physicians to educate its members of state and federal programs available to3 children with developmental disabilities and advise parents and guardians of such4 programs when such a diagnosis is made.5 WHEREAS, it is imperative to make parents and guardians aware of state and federal6 programs available for children with developmental disabilities; and7 WHEREAS, informed parents and guardians are able to make better decisions8 regarding their children; and9 WHEREAS, the front line in communications regarding the health and well-being10 of a child is at the doctor's office; and11 WHEREAS, the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Louisiana Academy of12 Family Physicians should make every effort to ensure that Louisiana doctors are13 knowledgeable about state and federal programs available for children with developmental14 disabilities.15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16 urge and request the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Louisiana Academy of Family17 Physicians to educate its members of state and federal programs available to children with18 SCR NO. 13 SLS 14RS-461 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 developmental disabilities and advise parents and guardians of such programs when such a1 diagnosis is made.2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the3 executive director of the Louisiana State Medical Society and the executive director of the4 Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians.5 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Christopher D.
