Commends Pete Boudreaux on being named to the 2014 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend Pete Boudreaux on being named to the 2014 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame2 Induction Class.3 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year4 collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number5 sports figures who embody the character, skills, and talents worthy of being named to the6 hall of fame; and7 WHEREAS, the 2014 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes Baton8 Rouge native Pete Boudreaux; and9 WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux graduated from Catholic High School in 1959, and spent10 his entire career at his alma mater, breaking record after record and having one of the most11 distinguished coaching careers in Louisiana history; and12 WHEREAS, he began his distinguished career as head track coach in 1968, and13 became head cross country coach in the early 1970s, and during this long tenure his teams14 have won thirty-nine state titles, finished as the state runner-up ten times at cross country,15 seven in outdoor track, and four in indoor track; and16 WHEREAS, under his coaching, the Catholic High School track teams have recorded17 the four highest scores by a championship team in Class 5A track and field and the three best18 SCR NO. 154 SLS 14RS-4322 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 scores ever recorded in Class 5A cross country; and1 WHEREAS, among the many accomplishments of the teams under his coaching2 include the 2010 track team scoring a record one-hundred four points to set the current3 record, and the 2009 cross country team scoring the low winning score of thirty-three points;4 and5 WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux served as president of the Louisiana High School6 Coaches Association in 1981, worked as an official in the Southeastern Conference and Big7 XII track and field championships and as an official at the U.S. Olympic trials, and served8 as co-meet director for the NCAA Championships; and9 WHEREAS, among his many awards, he received the state Coach of the Year10 fourteen times, in 2010 was voted the national high school coach of the year for boys track11 by U.S.A. Track & Field, and was inducted into the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of12 Fame in 2000; and13 WHEREAS, the long and stellar career of Pete Boudreaux has earned him a place14 among the many greats in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16 commend and congratulate Pete Boudreaux on being named to the 2014 Louisiana Sports17 Hall of Fame Induction Class.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to19 Pete Boudreaux.20 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by McHenry Lee.
