Designates the month of November as Culinary Careers Awareness Month. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To designate November of each year as Culinary Careers Awareness Month in support of2 raising awareness of the culinary profession and the opportunities available to youth.3 WHEREAS, Louisiana's cultural heritage is centered around the unique cuisine4 influenced by the seven nations - France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Africa, Germany and5 Native Americans - from which Cajun and Creole delicacies were born; and6 WHEREAS, culinary careers offer a wide range of opportunities from chefs and7 foodservice operations to meat fabrication and event catering; and8 WHEREAS, Louisiana is the preferred destination of large-scale events with9 first-class venues because food is an integral part of our tourism assets, requiring a10 well-trained and educated arena and concession management workforce; and11 WHEREAS, Louisiana is home to the internationally recognized Chef John Folse12 Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University which offers the state's only four-year13 Bachelor of Culinary Arts degree.14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby15 designate the month of November each year as Culinary Careers Awareness Month in16 support of raising awareness of the culinary profession and the opportunities available to17 youth.18 SCR NO. 65 SLS 14RS-2158 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Jerry J.
