Regular Session, 2014	ENROLLED
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 65
BY SENATOR CHABERT
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To designate November of each year as Culinary Careers Awareness Month in support of
raising awareness of the culinary profession and the opportunities available to youth.
WHEREAS, Louisiana's cultural heritage is centered around the unique cuisine
influenced by the seven nations - France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Africa, Germany and
Native Americans - from which Cajun and Creole delicacies were born; and
WHEREAS, culinary careers offer a wide range of opportunities from chefs and
foodservice operations to meat fabrication and event catering; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana is the preferred destination of large-scale events with
first-class venues because food is an integral part of our tourism assets, requiring a
well-trained and educated arena and concession management workforce; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana is home to the internationally recognized Chef John Folse
Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University, which offers the state's only four-year
Bachelor of Culinary Arts degree.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
designate the month of November each year as Culinary Careers Awareness Month in
support of raising awareness of the culinary profession and the opportunities available to
youth.
