Commends the Destrehan Lady Wildcats for an outstanding, historic season. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend and congratulate the Destrehan Lady Wildcats for an outstanding and historic2 season and on reaching the state championship game.3 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens and the Legislature of Louisiana4 commend and congratulate the Destrehan Lady Wildcats for an outstanding and5 unprecedented season and on reaching the state championship game; and6 WHEREAS, the Lady Cats went undefeated in district play and won the District7 7-5A championship with a record of fourteen wins and no losses; and 8 WHEREAS, led by head coach Angi Butler, and assistant coaches Meagan Stock and9 Joanna Welch, Destrehan posted a season record of thirty-one wins and only two losses; and10 WHEREAS, players Jordan Dabney, Lamitra Wells, Jasmine Morris, Brandi Mason,11 Alana Lawrence, Nytea Sanchez, Ballee Lipps, Cara Ursin, Kyrsten Kenner, Alexis Jackson,12 Marshe Ursin, Tiera Melancon, Jerllcia Morris and managers Brittany Williams,13 ReJanne' Fobb, Keirra Sandifer, Samdrael McKay, and Cade Butler all made valuable14 contributions to the success of the team; and15 WHEREAS, seniors Jordan Dabney and Alexis Jackson, junior Jasmine Morris and16 freshmen Cara Ursin, and Brandi Mason were influential standouts all season; and17 WHEREAS, coming into the championship game, the Lady Cats had not lost a game18 since November and that was only in tournament play and were 31-1 for the year but19 SCR NO. 70 SLS 14RS-1287 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 ultimately Destrehan lost their second game of the season falling to the Mt. Carmel Cubs 69-1 60 in the state championship game.2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby3 commend and congratulate the Destrehan High School Lady Wildcats on an outstanding and4 impressive season and for making it to the 2014 Class 5A state basketball championship and5 does hereby extend its tribute to the coaches, players, and managers of the Destrehan Lady6 Wildcats girls' basketball team for their phenomenal season.7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to8 Destrehan High School Principal Stephen Weber and Head Coach Angi Butler.9 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Tammy Crain Waldrop.
