SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 74
BY SENATORS WHI TE, DONAHUE, ERDEY AND NEVERS AND
REPRESENTATIVES BROADWATER, EDWARDS, PUGH AND
SIMON
COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Southeastern Football Team for setting a single
season school record for victories.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Southeastern Louisiana University Football Team for setting a single2
season school record for victories.3
WHEREAS, the Southeastern Lions completed the season with an 11-3 record; and4
WHEREAS, the Lions have earned their first conference title since 1961 and first5
National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I playoff appearance in the Football6
Championship Subdivision playoffs; and7
WHEREAS, Southeastern ends their season as the number six pick by voters in both8
the Sports Network and the Football Championship Subdivision Coaches' national poll; and9
WHEREAS, the team includes quarterback, Bryan Bennett, who was named the10
Southland Conference and Louisiana Player of the Year, and Xavier Roberson who was11
named the National Specials Teams Player of the Year; and 12
WHEREAS, senior linebacker Cqulin Hubert, senior place kicker Seth Sebastian, and13
sophomore running back Xavier Roberson were all named to multiple All-American squads;14
and15
WHEREAS, the Lions' accomplishments are a direct reflection of the strong16
leadership and direction of coaches Brandon Lacy, Travis Mikel, Sean O'Sullivan, Chet17
Pobolish, Karl Scott, Wesley Satterfield, Patrick Toney and head coach, Ron Roberts; and18 SCR NO. 74

WHEREAS, Coach Roberts was named the Southland Conference, the Louisiana1
Sports Writers, and the American Football Coaches Association Region five Coach of the2
Year; and3
WHEREAS, the two post-season NCAA football playoff games at Southeastern4
Louisiana University had an estimated total economic impact of more than $835,000 on5
Tangipahoa Parish; and6
WHEREAS, through a display of good sportsmanship and dedication to the game of7
football the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions have brought tremendous honor and8
pride to the university and the Hammond community.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby10
commend the Southeastern Louisiana University Football Team for setting a single season11
school record for victories.12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the13
University President, Dr. John Crain.14
