WHEREAS, the Southeastern Lions completed the season with an 11-3 record; and WHEREAS, the Lions have earned their first conference title since 1961 and first National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I playoff appearance in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs; and WHEREAS, Southeastern ends their season as the number six pick by voters in both the Sports Network and the Football Championship Subdivision Coaches' national poll; and WHEREAS, the team includes quarterback, Bryan Bennett, who was named the Southland Conference and Louisiana Player of the Year, and Xavier Roberson who was named the National Special Teams Player of the Year; and WHEREAS, senior linebacker Cqulin Hubert, senior place kicker Seth Sebastian, and sophomore running back Xavier Roberson were all named to multiple All-American squads; and WHEREAS, the Lions' accomplishments are a direct reflection of the strong leadership and direction of coaches Brandon Lacy, Travis Mikel, Sean O'Sullivan, Chet Pobolish, Karl Scott, Wesley Satterfield, Patrick Toney and head coach, Ron Roberts; and WHEREAS, Coach Roberts was named the Southland Conference, the Louisiana Sports Writers, and the American Football Coaches Association Region five Coach of the Year; and SCR NO. 74 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the two post-season NCAA football playoff games at Southeastern Louisiana University had an estimated total economic impact of more than $835,000 on Tangipahoa Parish; and WHEREAS, through a display of good sportsmanship and dedication to the game of football the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions have brought tremendous honor and pride to the university and the Hammond community. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Southeastern Louisiana University Football Team for setting a single season school record for victories.
