Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 109 BY SENATOR PERRY A RESOLUTION To commend Judge Durwood W. Conque on the occasion of his retirement from the Fifteenth Judicial District Court in Abbeville. WHEREAS, Judge Conque attended the University of St. Thomas and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967, and attended the University of Houston to pursue a post- graduate education from 1967 until 1968; and WHEREAS, Judge Conque served in United States Army intelligence from 1970 to 1972; and WHEREAS, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1972; and WHEREAS, Judge Conque became a practicing attorney, specializing in municipal government and personal injury law from 1973 to 1987 and was attorney for the city of Abbeville from 1980 to 1987; and WHEREAS, Judge Conque practiced law until his election to the Louisiana Fifteenth Judicial District Court, Division G, in 1987, which serves the parishes of Lafayette, Acadia, and Vermilion; and WHEREAS, he was re-elected without opposition in 1990, 1996, 2002, and 2008; and WHEREAS, Judge Conque served on the board of governors of the Louisiana Judicial College, the Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Judicial Ethics, the Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Rules for District Courts, and is a past president of the Louisiana District Judges' Association; and WHEREAS, he is an adjunct professor at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, teaches pretrial litigation skills, and is a faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy; and SR NO. 109 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, he resides in Abbeville with his lovely wife, Rusti; and WHEREAS, Judge Conque merits the highest commendation and sincere congratulations for his exemplary service as a judge with the Fifteenth Judicial District Court and for his outstanding contributions to the state of Louisiana and its citizens. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Judge Durwood W. Conque for his service with the Fifteenth Judicial District Court and for his exceptional career and service to the state, does hereby express to him enduring appreciation for his distinguished service to the citizens of Lafayette, Acadia, and Vermilion parishes, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his vital contributions and tireless dedication to the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
