SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 113

SENATE.  Recognizes May 4-10, 2014, as Louisiana Teacher Appreciation Week.
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize May 4-10, 2014, as Louisiana Teacher Appreciation Week.2
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers make Louisiana public schools great; and3
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers work to expand students' minds, opening a gateway4
to ideas, knowledge, and dreams; and5
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers spend countless hours outside of work preparing6
lessons, evaluating progress, counseling, coaching, and caring for students; and7
WHEREAS, Louisiana teachers fill many roles, as listeners, role models, motivators,8
and mentors; and9
WHEREAS, teachers across America keep democracy alive by laying the foundation10
for good citizenship; and11
WHEREAS, our country's future depends upon the quality education teachers12
provide to all students; and13
WHEREAS, teachers continue to influence us long after our school days.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana that15
May 4-10, 2014, is hereby recognized as Louisiana Teacher Appreciation Week.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Senate of the Legislature of17
Louisiana strongly encourage community members across the state to join in personally18 SR NO. 113

expressing appreciation to our teachers and education support professionals for their1
dedication and their impact on the lives of our children.2
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the3
Louisiana Association of Educators.4
