SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 114

SENATE. Recognizes May 2014 as the "International Internal Audit Awareness Month" in
the Senate.
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize May 2014 as "International Internal Audit Awareness Month" in the Senate2
of the Legislature of Louisiana.3
WHEREAS, internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting4
activity designed to add value and to improve an organization's operations; and5
WHEREAS, internal auditing seeks to help an organization accomplish its objectives6
by bringing a systemic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of7
risk management, control, and governance processes; and8
WHEREAS, in both the public and private sectors, internal auditing is a vital part of9
strengthening organizations and protecting stakeholders; and10
WHEREAS, internal auditing helps identify and manage an organization's risks,11
assesses policies and procedures and ensures that fiscal controls are in place; and12
WHEREAS, an increasingly sophisticated and complex activity, internal auditing13
requires specialized knowledge, training, and education; and14
WHEREAS, internal auditing is an established profession, led by the Institute of15
Internal Auditors, with a globally recognized code of ethics contained in International16
Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing; and17
WHEREAS, the positive contribution of internal audit professionals to the success18 SR NO. 114

of organizations and the global economy at large deserves notice; and1
WHEREAS, internal auditing as a career offers job opportunities with attractive2
salaries, challenge, prestige, and professional certification as a Certified Internal Auditor.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana4
does hereby recognize May 2014 as "International Internal Audit Awareness Month" in the5
Senate. 6
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the7
Institute of Internal Auditors Chapter in New Orleans, Louisiana, through Pam Fiegel.8
