SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 120
BY SENATORS DORSEY-COLOMB, ALARI O AND BROOME
COMMENDATIONS. Commends LSU Lady Tiger gymnastics team and Head Coach D-D
Breaux on the highest national finish in school history.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers Gymnastics team and Head Coach2
D-D Breaux on the highest national finish ever achieved by an LSU gymnastics3
team.4
WHEREAS, with the guidance of Coach Breaux, the 2014 Lady Tigers' earned a5
score of 197.600 and third place in the NCAA Super Six finals; and6
WHEREAS, the Super Six score was the record-breaking thirteenth consecutive7
competition in which the gymnasts scored at least 197 this season, shattering the old school8
record of eight in a row; and9
WHEREAS, through the season, the Lady Tigers scored 197 or higher in fourteen10
of fifteen outings on their way to earning the nation's top ranking for a three-week stretch11
in late February and early March; and12
WHEREAS, reaching the number one ranking was the first time since 2005 that13
Coach Breaux and the Lady Tiger gymnasts had earned that ranking; and14
WHEREAS, following a pre-season national mark of fifth in the country, the Lady15
Tigers ranked no lower than third during the entire regular season and was seeded third for16
the NCAA championships; and17
WHEREAS, the 2014 Lady Tiger gymnastics team broke the school's all-time18 SR NO. 120

scoring mark three times; and1
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers scored 197.875 on February 15, 2014, at the Metroplex2
Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, to break the old record of 197.50 that had stood for nine3
years; and4
WHEREAS, during the Southeastern Conference season the Lady Tigers set a new5
all-time team high tally with a score of 198.050 against Missouri and finishing the season6
11-0 at home, posting a flawless home record for the fifteenth season in a row; and7
WHEREAS, the highest mark ever earned by an LSU Lady Tigers gymnastics team8
was recorded in the Baton Rouge regional with a total of 198.325, which tied the highest9
score in the nation this season and qualified the Lady Tigers for the national semi-finals for10
the twenty-fifth time in D-D Breaux's tenure; and11
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers led the nation with five gymnasts as First-Team All12
Americans at the NCAA championships; and13
WHEREAS, the 2014 Lady Tigers gymnastics team ended the year as the only team14
in the nation to score a 49.0 or higher in every event in every meet this entire season; and15
WHEREAS, amid a historically successful season, the Lady Tigers shattered the16
home attendance record for the second straight season, including hosting a record crowd for17
an NCAA Regional, besting all other venues by nearly one thousand fans attending; and18
WHEREAS, the team earned twenty total All-American honors as a team, including19
twelve regular season All-American honors that tied the most of any team; and20
WHEREAS, Head Coach D-D Breaux was named National Coach of the Year by the21
National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women while LSU assistant22
coaches, Jay Clark and Bob Moore were honored as co-national assistant coaches of the23
year; and24
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers thrilled fans throughout the year, set new team and25
individual records throughout the season, all accomplishments that culminated in the highest26
finish in school history with third place at the NCAA Super Six Finals in April.27
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana28
does hereby commend the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers gymnastics team and29
Head Coach D-D Breaux on their highest national finish ever by an LSU team.30 SR NO. 120

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the1
LSU Lady Tiger gymnastics team and Head Coach D-D Breaux.2
