SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 132
BY SENATOR THOMPSON 
LEGIS POWERS/FUNCTIONS.  Designates May 28, 2014, as 4-H Day at the legislature
and commends the state officers of 4-H.
A RESOLUTION1
To designate May 28, 2014, as 4-H Day at the legislature and to commend the state 4-H2
Executive Board officers.3
WHEREAS, LSU AgCenter 4-H program participants gain knowledge and life skills4
enabling them to become positive, productive, and compassionate members of their5
communities; and6
WHEREAS, 4-H has three primary program initiatives: citizenship; healthy living;7
and science, engineering, and technology; and8
WHEREAS, 4-H youth learn leadership and life skills through a variety of projects9
on topics such as outdoor skills, aerospace, animal science, nutrition, forestry, and10
community service; and11
WHEREAS, "Learning by Doing" is the 4-H club slogan which encourages members12
to develop and improve their critical thinking and communication skills; and13
WHEREAS, the Louisiana 4-H Youth Development program continues to expand14
to meet the needs of youth, with participation exceeding two hundred forty thousand15
members across the state; and16
WHEREAS, through its extraordinary record of research, education, youth17
development, and community service, Louisiana 4-H is an invaluable asset to the LSU18
AgCenter and the state of Louisiana; and19 SR NO. 132

WHEREAS, today more than twelve hundred 4-H members and volunteers from all1
sixty-four parishes are at the capitol for the thirteenth annual 4-H Day meeting legislators2
and learning about the legislative process.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana4
does hereby designate May 28, 2014, as 4-H Day at the legislature.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana also6
recognizes and commends the 2013-2014 state 4-H Executive Board officers as follows:7
Anne Catherine LeBlanc, President; Benjamin "Buck" Owens, Vice President; McKenna8
Jenkins, Secretary; Kreig Todd, Historian/Reporter; and Austin Gaspard, Parliamentarian.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the10
state president of the 4-H Executive Board.11
