SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 165

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Delhi Charter School Powerlifting team upon winning
the 2014 LHSAA Division V (1A) State Powerlifting Championship.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and congratulate the lifters and coaches of the Delhi Charter School boys2
powerlifting team on winning the 2014 Louisiana High School Athletic Association3
(LHSAA) Division V (1A) State Powerlifting Championship.4
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana and the Senate of the5
Legislature of Louisiana congratulate the Delhi Charter School boys powerlifting team on6
their competitive spirit during the season that culminated in them winning the Division V7
(1A) High School Boys State Powerlifting Championship; and8
WHEREAS, despite it being only the sixth season of the program at the school, the9
Delhi Charter School boys powerlifting team delivered an impressive performance; and10
WHEREAS, each team member contributed to their winning total of 43 points which11
was five points higher than the runner-up team; and12
WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter School boys powerlifters displayed impeccable team13
concept throughout the season and each of these young men deserves individual recognition14
for his vital contribution to the success of the team; and15
WHEREAS, Tyler McMurray, Trip Spillars, Justin Beach, Mikey Henson, Henry16
Ellis, Ethan Harrell, Javon McDowell, Marc Sanchez, Malcolm Gray, Jeremy Antley, and17
Joel Gill are all commended for their determination and dedication to the sport; and18 SR NO. 165

WHEREAS, Head Coach Kyle Stracener instilled in the lifters the kind of leadership1
and motivational skills needed to achieve great success both on and off the platform; and2
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Tyler McMurray, Justin Beach, Henry3
Ellis, and Joel Gill for placing first and Javon McDowell for placing second as the best4
lifters in their respective weight groups; and5
WHEREAS, it is also appropriate to commend Mikey Henson for placing third and6
Trip Spillars, Ethan Harrell, and Marc Sanchez for placing fourth and Jeremy Antley for7
placing fifth as best lifters in their respective weight groups; and 8
WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter School Gators bring a commanding sense of honor9
and immense pride to the school, the town of Delhi, and the state of Louisiana.10
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana11
does hereby commend and congratulate the lifters and coaches of Delhi Charter School on12
an impressive and memorable season, and on capturing the District V (1A) High School13
Boys State Powerlifting Championship Title.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Delhi15
Charter School headmaster Brett Raley and the head powerlifting coach Kyle Stracener.16
