SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 165

A RESOLUTION
To commend and congratulate the lifters and coaches of the Delhi Charter School boys
powerlifting team on winning the 2014 Louisiana High School Athletic Association
(LHSAA) Division V (1A) State Powerlifting Championship.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens of Louisiana and the Senate of the
Legislature of Louisiana congratulate the Delhi Charter School boys powerlifting team on
their competitive spirit during the season that culminated in them winning the Division V
(1A) High School Boys State Powerlifting Championship; and
WHEREAS, despite it being only the sixth season of the program at the school, the
Delhi Charter School boys powerlifting team delivered an impressive performance; and
WHEREAS, each team member contributed to their winning total of 43 points which
was five points higher than the runner-up team; and
WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter School boys powerlifters displayed impeccable team
concept throughout the season and each of these young men deserves individual recognition
for his vital contribution to the success of the team; and
WHEREAS, Tyler McMurray, Trip Spillars, Justin Beach, Mikey Henson,
Henry Ellis, Ethan Harrell, Javon McDowell, Marc Sanchez, Malcolm Gray, Jeremy Antley,
and Joel Gill are all commended for their determination and dedication to the sport; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Kyle Stracener instilled in the lifters the kind of leadership
and motivational skills needed to achieve great success both on and off the platform; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Tyler McMurray, Justin Beach,
Henry Ellis, and Joel Gill for placing first and Javon McDowell for placing second as the
best lifters in their respective weight groups; and
WHEREAS, it is also appropriate to commend Mikey Henson for placing third and
Trip Spillars, Ethan Harrell, and Marc Sanchez for placing fourth and Jeremy Antley for
placing fifth as best lifters in their respective weight groups; and SR NO. 165 ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the Delhi Charter School Gators bring a commanding sense of honor
and immense pride to the school, the town of Delhi, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and congratulate the lifters and coaches of Delhi Charter School on
an impressive and memorable season, and on capturing the District V (1A) High School
Boys State Powerlifting Championship Title.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Delhi
Charter School headmaster Brett Raley and the head powerlifting coach Kyle Stracener.
