SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 182

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Simsboro High School boys track and field team on
winning the Class B state championship.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Simsboro High School boys track and field team on winning the Class B2
state championship.3
WHEREAS, track is an individual as well as a team sport; and4
WHEREAS, an individual performance affects the team, especially in situations such5
as relay races; and6
WHEREAS, in addition to the team bond at track meets, friendships are formed7
during practice; and8
WHEREAS, the Simsboro High School boys track and field team completed a9
sensational season and cemented their bond as a team as well as their legacy in Louisiana10
sports history; and11
WHEREAS, Simsboro totaled 64.50 team points at the Class B state championship12
at Bernie Moore Stadium on the LSU campus; and13
WHEREAS, Simsboro's 4 x 400 relay team of Xavier Ogunyemi, Rontavious Abney,14
Dequalone James, Cardaye Modest took home a second-place finish, as did Colton Cochran15
in the 3,200m and 1,600m runs; and16
WHEREAS, Ron Abney won both the 110m and 300m hurdles events and was17
named the Class B boys MVP; and18 SR NO. 182

WHEREAS, the entire boys track team put forth a great effort and exemplified the1
meaning of teamwork; and2
WHEREAS, Coach Chris Campbell, through his ability to inspire, his patience to3
teach, and gift of leadership has coached his team to the pinnacle of Louisiana High School4
track and field.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana6
does hereby recognize and record the tremendous pride and honor the Simsboro High School7
boys track and field team has brought to Simsboro and to the state of Louisiana with this8
accomplishment, and for completing a successful season through hard work and dedication,9
and does hereby extend best wishes to all players, coaches, and everyone involved with the10
track team's efforts in winning the Class B state championship.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to12
Coach Chris Campbell.13
