Commends Holy Angels Residential Facility upon being recognized as a "2014 Frontline Healthcare Worker Champion" by CareerSTAT. A RESOLUTION1 To commend Holy Angels Residential Facility upon being recognized as a "2014 Frontline2 Healthcare Worker Champion" by CareerSTAT.3 WHEREAS, Holy Angels Residential Facility is an independent licensed residential4 training facility serving approximately one hundred and eighty-four individuals with5 intellectual and developmental disabilities in Shreveport, Louisiana; and6 WHEREAS, CareerSTAT is a national collaboration of health care leaders who7 promote employer investment in the skill and career development of frontline health care8 workers and is an initiative of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions and Jobs for the9 Future; and10 WHEREAS, the Frontline Healthcare Worker Champion recognition pays tribute to11 national leaders that invest in the skill and career development of their frontline employees,12 who are those in jobs requiring less than an associate degree, such as patient intake13 coordinators, medical assistants, certified nursing assistants, and dietary service staff; and14 WHEREAS, employers that invest in these employees benefit through lower staff15 turnover and vacancy rates, reduced recruitment costs, and increased quality patient care;16 and17 WHEREAS, criteria for being designated as a "2014 Frontline Healthcare Worker18 SR NO. 189 SLS 14RS-5220 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 Champion" include making skill and career development accessible to workers through1 methods such as on-site training, providing release time, or employee coaching; having2 programs of a significant scale; tracking data on program outcomes, impact or return on3 investment; and demonstrating a commitment to sustaining the investment over time; and4 WHEREAS, at Holy Angels in 2013, twenty-two of twenty-three frontline workers5 passed the certified medication administration training course, eighty-one frontline workers6 opted to participate in foundational and life skills courses, and one frontline worker7 completed postsecondary education and is now a registered nurse at Holy Angels; and8 WHEREAS, Jan Hunter, director of CareerSTAT, has said "Holy Angels is highly9 deserving of this recognition," and "Holy Angels has taken broad steps to help its employees10 through the establishment of Angel University, which provides workers with an array of11 programs that develop new skills and the ability to move up the career ladder."12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana13 does hereby commend Holy Angels Residential Facility upon being recognized as a "201414 Frontline Healthcare Worker Champion" by CareerSTAT.15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to16 Laurie Boswell at Holy Angels Residential Facility.17 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by J.
