SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21
BY SENATOR GUILLORY 
COMMENDATIONS.  Declares March 19, 2014, as Youth Equine Day at the Capitol.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the youth that proudly represent Louisiana in equine exhibitions within the2
state and across the country and to declare March 19, 2014, as Youth Equine Day at3
the Capitol.4
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana5
recognize and commend the many students that represent our state in equine exhibitions and6
competitions and to declare March 19, 2014, as Youth Equine Day at the Capitol; and7
WHEREAS, the horse industry is an important component of the agricultural8
economy of Louisiana; and9
WHEREAS, the buying and selling of horses, creation of jobs, expenditures on10
horses, and equestrian events have an estimated economic impact of 2.5 billion dollars each11
year; and12
WHEREAS, youth from across the state have come together to bring awareness to13
the size and scope of this billion dollar industry; and14
WHEREAS, the Senate encourages these youth to continue to achieve equine15
accolades and to proudly represent the state of Louisiana; and16
WHEREAS, the Senate recognizes the T.B. Porter family who has produced17
generations of equine competitors, and all participants of the Louisiana Hunter Jumper18 SR NO. 21

Association, North American Championship International Level, National Dressage Finals,1
Gulf Coast Hunter Jumper Association, Mississippi Hunter Jumper Association; and 2
WHEREAS, the Senate also recognizes participants in the World High School Rodeo3
Finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming; Junior High Division of Rodeo Finals in Gallop, New4
Mexico; International Youth Rodeo Finals in Shawanne, Oklahoma; National Little Britches5
Rodeo Finals in Pueblo, Colorado; Collage National Rodeo Finals in Casper, Wyoming;6
World Quarter Horse Show, Louisiana High School Rodeo Finals in Lake Charles,7
Louisiana, which had over 400 participants; and8
WHEREAS, the Senate also recognizes the participants in the United States Team9
Roping Championships in Kinder, Louisiana and Monroe, Louisiana; Dixie National Horse10
Show in Jackson, Mississippi; Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston, Texas; 4-H11
Southern Regional in West Virginia; and12
WHEREAS, lastly the Senate also recognizes the McNeese Rodeo Team and13
Academy of the Sacred Heart Team.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana15
does hereby commend the youth that proudly represent Louisiana in equine exhibitions16
within the state and across the country and hereby designate March 19, 2014, as Youth17
Equine Day at the Capitol. 18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to19
Daniel Lyons.20
