SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21
BY SENATOR GUILLORY 
A RESOLUTION
To commend the youth that proudly represent Louisiana in equine exhibitions within the
state and across the country and to declare March 19, 2014, as Youth Equine Day at
the Capitol.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
recognize and commend the many students that represent our state in equine exhibitions and
competitions and to declare March 19, 2014, as Youth Equine Day at the Capitol; and
WHEREAS, the horse industry is an important component of the agricultural
economy of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the buying and selling of horses, creation of jobs, expenditures on
horses, and equestrian events have an estimated economic impact of 2.5 billion dollars each
year; and
WHEREAS, youth from across the state have come together to bring awareness to
the size and scope of this billion dollar industry; and
WHEREAS, the Senate encourages these youth to continue to achieve equine
accolades and to proudly represent the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the Senate recognizes the T.B. Porter family who has produced
generations of equine competitors, and all participants of the Louisiana Hunter Jumper
Association, North American Championship International Level, National Dressage Finals,
Gulf Coast Hunter Jumper Association, Mississippi Hunter Jumper Association; and 
WHEREAS, the Senate also recognizes participants in the World High School Rodeo
Finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming; Junior High Division of Rodeo Finals in Gallop, New
Mexico; International Youth Rodeo Finals in Shawanne, Oklahoma; National Little Britches
Rodeo Finals in Pueblo, Colorado; College National Rodeo Finals in Casper, Wyoming;
World Quarter Horse Show, Louisiana High School Rodeo Finals in Lake Charles,
Louisiana, which had over 400 participants; and SR NO. 21	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the Senate also recognizes the participants in the United States Team
Roping Championships in Kinder, Louisiana and Monroe, Louisiana; Dixie National Horse
Show in Jackson, Mississippi; Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston, Texas; 4-H
Southern Regional in West Virginia; and
WHEREAS, lastly the Senate also recognizes the McNeese Rodeo Team and
Academy of the Sacred Heart Team.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the youth that proudly represent Louisiana in equine exhibitions
within the state and across the country and hereby designate March 19, 2014, as Youth
Equine Day at the Capitol. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Daniel Lyons.
