SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 3
BY SENATOR JOHNS 
CONDOLENCES.  Express condolences upon the death of Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de
la Houssaye.
A RESOLUTION1
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2
death of Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye.3
WHEREAS, the citizens of the state of Louisiana learned of the death of Dr. Lionel4
Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye on December 22, 2013, at the age of seventy-three; and5
WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye was born in Crowley, Louisiana, on August 8, 1940;6
and 7
WHEREAS; he was a graduate of Crowley High School; and8
WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye attended Louisiana State University and graduated9
from the College of Science where he focused on the predental curriculum before graduating10
from the Loyola School of Dentistry in New Orleans; and11
WHEREAS, he served as a captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam12
War and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland; and13
WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye began his practice in oral surgery in Lake Charles14
in 1971 and retired in 2012; and15
WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Marie Louise Ogden16
"Zizi" de la Houssaye; two sons, Dr. Lionel L. de la Houssaye Jr. and his wife Geri, and Jean17
Paul Peletier de la Houssaye; one daughter, Marie Louise de la Houssaye Civita and her18 SR NO. 3

husband, Francesco; grandchildren Anneliose and Louis de la Houssaye, and Max, Nicco,1
and Luisa Civita; and one brother, Dr. Benton Cason de la Houssaye; and2
WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven3
Catholic Church and the Lake Charles Rotary Club; and4
WHEREAS, he was a gentleman who was admired by all whose lives he touched,5
leaves behind a rich and unique legacy, and is greatly missed; and6
WHEREAS, although the death of Dr. de la Houssaye has left a tremendous void in7
his community, his memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and8
loved him.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana10
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Dr. Lionel Louis11
"Poochie" de la Houssaye, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his12
accomplishments and contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the13
pride and honor that he will forever bring to his family, friends, community, and the state14
of Louisiana.15
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the16
family of Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye.17
