Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2014 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 3 BY SENATOR JOHNS A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye. WHEREAS, the citizens of the state of Louisiana learned of the death of Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye on December 22, 2013, at the age of seventy-three; and WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye was born in Crowley, Louisiana, on August 8, 1940; and WHEREAS, he was a graduate of Crowley High School; and WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye attended Louisiana State University and graduated from the College of Science where he focused on the predental curriculum before graduating from the Loyola School of Dentistry in New Orleans; and WHEREAS, he served as a captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland; and WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye began his practice in oral surgery in Lake Charles in 1971 and retired in 2012; and WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Marie Louise Ogden "Zizi" de la Houssaye; two sons, Dr. Lionel L. de la Houssaye Jr. and his wife Geri, and Jean Paul Peletier de la Houssaye; one daughter, Marie Louise de la Houssaye Civita and her husband, Francesco; grandchildren Anneliose and Louis de la Houssaye, and Max, Nicco, and Luisa Civita; and one brother, Dr. Benton Cason de la Houssaye; and WHEREAS, Dr. de la Houssaye was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and the Lake Charles Rotary Club; and WHEREAS, he was a gentleman who was admired by all whose lives he touched, leaves behind a rich and unique legacy, and is greatly missed; and WHEREAS, although the death of Dr. de la Houssaye has left a tremendous void in his community, his memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved him. SR NO. 3 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his accomplishments and contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that he will forever bring to his family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of Dr. Lionel Louis "Poochie" de la Houssaye. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
