SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 33
BY SENATORS PERRY AND CORTEZ
COMMENDATIONS. Commends the ULL Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team upon
winning the Sun Belt Conference.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team2
upon winning the Sun Belt Conference championship title and to recognize the3
Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team on their extraordinary achievements for the4
2013-2014 basketball season.5
WHEREAS, the third-seeded Ragin' Cajuns held a record of twenty-three wins and6
eleven losses for the 2013-2014 basketball season and earned an automatic bid to their first7
National Conference of Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament since 2005; and8
WHEREAS, after tying the score on a putback with 1.4 seconds remaining in9
regulation against top seed Georgia State in the Sun Belt Conference tournament title game10
on Sunday, March 16, 2014, the Ragin' Cajuns grabbed twenty offensive rebounds and held11
the lead for the rest of the game; and12
WHEREAS, after a thrilling game against Georgia State, the ULL men's basketball13
team beat the Panthers with a final score of 82-81; and14
WHEREAS, the Ragin' Cajuns have full confidence and support that the team will15
continue to triumph in the second round of the NCAA tournament that will be held on16
Friday, March 21, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas, where the Ragin' Cajuns will face number17
three seed Creighton; and18 SR NO. 33

WHEREAS, all members of the Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team deserve1
recognition and congratulations for their outstanding performance on the basketball court2
and for their competitive spirit that guided them and led them to victories throughout the3
season; and4
WHEREAS, Bob Marlin, head coach of the Ragin' Cajuns, deserves recognition and5
thanks for his leadership and motivational skills that he has instilled in the team.6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana7
does hereby commend the ULL Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team upon winning the Sun8
Belt Conference championship title and for competing in the NCAA tournament for the first9
time since 2005.10
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate does hereby recognize and record the11
tremendous pride and honor that the Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team has brought to12
ULL and to the state of Louisiana with this accomplishment, and does hereby extend best13
wishes to all players, coaches, and everyone involved with the basketball team as they14
compete in the NCAA tournament.15
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to coach16
Bob Marlin and the ULL Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team.17
