Commends the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association for its outstanding achievements and designates the week of March 31, 2014, as Louisiana Physical Therapy Association Week. A RESOLUTION1 To commend the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association for its outstanding achievements2 and designates the week of March 31, 2014, as Louisiana Physical Therapy3 Association Week at the Louisiana Senate, including Thursday, April 3, 2014 as4 "Physical Therapy Awareness Legislative Day".5 WHEREAS, the mission of the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association, the6 principal membership organization in Louisiana representing and promoting the profession7 of physical therapy, is to enhance the physical health and functional abilities of members of8 the public and to further the profession's role in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of9 movement dysfunctions and neuromusculoskeletal conditions; and10 WHEREAS, the vision statement of the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association is11 that the association will advocate that physical therapy become the public's choice for the12 diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of neuromusculoskeletal conditions and movement13 dysfunctions by expanding membership and enhancing participation in legislative14 policymaking to achieve greater influence in health care delivery issues; and15 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association states that it exists to16 optimize the health and quality of life of people in Louisiana by advancing the profession17 of physical therapy; and18 SR NO. 40 SLS 14RS-1914 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants consistently aspire1 to wisely apply the principles of altruism, excellence, caring, ethics, respect, communication,2 and accountability, and they work together with other health care professionals to achieve3 optimal health and wellness in individuals and communities; and4 WHEREAS, through their skills and their dedication to their patients, the men and5 women of the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association have made a significant and positive6 difference in communities throughout the state; and7 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association and its members merit a8 measure of commendation.9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana10 does hereby commend the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association for its outstanding11 achievements and designates the week of March 31, 2014, as Louisiana Physical Therapy12 Association Week at the Louisiana Senate, including Thursday, April 3, 2014, as "Physical13 Therapy Awareness Legislative Day".14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the15 president of the board of the Louisiana Physical Therapy Association, Beth Ward.16 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Mary Dozier O'Brien.
