SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 44
BY SENATOR CORTEZ 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Randy K. Haynie on being honored at the UL Lafayette
18
th
 Annual Spring Gala for his outstanding contributions to the university and to the
Lafayette community.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Randy K. Haynie on being honored on April 12, 2014, at the University of2
Louisiana Lafayette eighteenth Annual Spring Gala for his outstanding contributions3
to the university and to the Lafayette community.4
WHEREAS, Randy K. Haynie first acquired his taste for politics after being elected5
the University of Southwestern Louisiana student government association president of the6
College of Sciences; and7
WHEREAS, he served on numerous university committees including: The Student8
Rights Bureau, the Committee on Academic Appeals, Health and Welfare, Parking Appeals,9
and the Elections Committee; and10
WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie also served as a dormitory counselor at Voorhies Hall, as11
dormitory director at Stokes Hall, and as the Assistant Director of Housing; and12
WHEREAS, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978, he became13
an assistant sergeant-at-arms for the Louisiana Senate and then the personal aide to former14
Senator Edgar "Sonny" Mouton; and15
WHEREAS, he worked extensively in Senator Mouton's gubernatorial campaign and16
used the experience he gained in that endeavor to open the consulting firm Haynie and17

WHEREAS, having worked summer months as a roughneck while in college, Mr.1
Haynie gained a wealth of knowledge in the oil industry which helped him acquire one of2
his first clients, the Louisiana Oilfield Contractors Association; and3
WHEREAS, currently, Haynie and Associates represents national corporations such4
as Altria Corporate Services, JP Morgan Chase, General Electric, General Motors, Pfizer5
Pharmaceuticals, Caesar's Entertainment, Inc., the New Orleans Saints, the National Football6
League, Ingalls/Avondale Shipyard, and Johnson Controls; and7
WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie is involved in various civic and professional organizations,8
an important lesson he learned as he achieved the rank of "Eagle" from the Boy Scouts of9
America; and10
WHEREAS, he currently serves as president of the National Association of State11
Lobbyists, and he has served on dozens of nonprofit boards throughout Louisiana; and12
WHEREAS, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Ogden Museum13
of Southern Art, Louisiana Arts and Humanities, LA Political Museum, Lafayette Central14
Park, and 232 Help of Acadiana; and15
WHEREAS, additionally, he has served on the Bishop's Charity/Opus Magnum16
Executive Committee for the Diocese of Lafayette since 1996, was selected the thirteenth17
Annual Bishop's Charity Ball King Louis XIII in 2000, and was the recipient of the18
Monsignor Alexander O. Sigur Award; and19
WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie is an active Catholic and member of the Equestrian Order20
of the Holy Sepulchre, and was also accepted into the 2009 class of the Order of Malta; and21
WHEREAS, he is an avid collector of objects associated with Louisiana and has an22
extensive collection of Louisiana Bank Notes and obsolete currency, including state, parish,23
municipal, and merchant, which date back to 1812; and24
WHEREAS, he also collects Louisiana flags, as well as photos and signatures of25
Louisiana governors and memorabilia related to their terms of office, and has several early26
maps of Louisiana and owns original paintings by well-known Louisiana and Southern27
artists; and28
WHEREAS, Mr. Haynie showcases his Louisiana collection at his Lafayette home29
and at Long-View, his Baton Rouge office, once home to one of Louisiana's most colorful30 SR NO. 44

governors, Earl K. Long; and1
WHEREAS, he has forged a solid foundation for life based upon faith, education,2
community service, sports, and hard work; and3
WHEREAS, he is recognized throughout his community for his ability to impact4
others in so many positive ways; and5
 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,6
and the overall vitality of American society depends, in great measure, upon the dedication7
of extraordinary men like Randy K. Haynie.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana9
does hereby commend and congratulate Randy K. Haynie on being honored at the University10
of Louisiana Lafayette eighteenth Annual Spring Gala for his outstanding contributions to11
the university and to the Lafayette community.12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to13
Randy K. Haynie.14
