SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 70

SENATE.  Designates April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.
A RESOLUTION1
To designate April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.2
WHEREAS, the commitment of the YMCA is to nurture the potential of youth,3
promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility; and4
WHEREAS, the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility unite the5
YMCA as a movement and guide YMCA behavior, interactions with each other, and6
decision-making; and7
WHEREAS, more than 100,000 children and adults throughout the state in Louisiana8
YMCAs have access to the essentials necessary to learn, grow, and thrive; and9
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated,10
community-based strategies for serving children and families; and11
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to12
provide developmental programs for youth, strengthen families, and mobilize and coordinate13
broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet community14
needs; and15
WHEREAS, on April 23, 2014, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs will meet at16
the Louisiana State Capitol with their Senators and Representatives to discuss and exchange17
ideas on issues facing youth and families.18 SR NO. 70

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana1
does hereby designate April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.2
