SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 70
BY SENATOR MURRAY 
A RESOLUTION
To designate April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, the commitment of the YMCA is to nurture the potential of youth,
promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility unite the
YMCA as a movement and guide YMCA behavior, interactions with each other, and
decision-making; and
WHEREAS, more than 100,000 children and adults throughout the state in Louisiana
YMCAs have access to the essentials necessary to learn, grow, and thrive; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated,
community-based strategies for serving children and families; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to
provide developmental programs for youth, strengthen families, and mobilize and coordinate
broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet community
needs; and
WHEREAS, on April 23, 2014, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs will meet at
the Louisiana State Capitol with their Senators and Representatives to discuss and exchange
ideas on issues facing youth and families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby designate April 23, 2014, as YMCA Day in Louisiana.
PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
