CLERKS OF COURT:  Provides relative to group insurance expenses of the clerks of court
in the parishes of Ouachita and Avoyelles
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 13:783(F)(7), relative to the payment of group insurance
3 premium costs for certain clerk of court employees; to require the clerks of court for
4 Avoyelles Parish and Ouachita Parish to pay certain group insurance premium costs;
5 to provide for eligibility for payment of such costs; and to provide for related
6 matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  R.S. 13:783(F)(7) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
9 §783.  Expenses of clerk's office

13	(7)  In the parishes of Avoyelles,  Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Franklin, Grant,
14 LaSalle, Ouachita, Webster, and Winn, the clerk of court shall pay, from the clerk's
15 salary fund, one hundred percent of the premium costs of the group life and
16 accidental death and dismemberment, group health, accident, dental, hospital,
17 surgical, or other medical expense insurance for any employee that retires from the
18 Avoyelles Parish clerk of court's office, Bossier Parish clerk of court's office, the
19 Caddo Parish clerk of court's office, the Caldwell Parish clerk of court's office, the
20 Franklin Parish clerk of court's office, the Grant Parish clerk of court's office, the

1 LaSalle Parish clerk of court's office, Ouachita Parish clerk of court's office, the
2 Webster Parish clerk of court's office, or the Winn Parish clerk of court's office who
3 is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the Louisiana Clerks' of Court
4 Retirement and Relief Fund, who has at least twenty years of full-time service with
5 the clerk of court's office in Avoyelles Parish, Bossier Parish, Caddo Parish,
6 Caldwell Parish, Franklin Parish, Grant Parish, LaSalle Parish, Ouachita Parish,
7 Webster Parish, or Winn Parish, and who is at least fifty-five years of age.  The
8 provisions of this Paragraph shall not apply to any other insurance, such as
9 supplemental insurance, that an employee may elect to purchase.

Abstract:  Provides for eligibility for payment of group insurance premium costs for
employees retiring from certain clerks of court offices.
Present law requires the premium costs of group life and accidental death and
dismemberment, group health, accident, dental, hospital, surgical, or other medical expense
insurance to be paid in full by the clerk of court for the parishes of Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell,
Franklin, Grant, LaSalle, Webster, and Winn, from the clerk's salary fund for any employee
who is entitled to receive monthly benefits from the La. Clerks' of Court Retirement and
Relief Fund and who retires with at least 20 years of full-time service and is at least 55 years
of age.
Proposed law retains present law and extends requirements relative to the payment of group
insurance premium costs to the clerks of court for the parishes of Avoyelles and Ouachita.
