Abstract:  Specifies that monies in the St. James Parish Enterprise Fund shall be appropriated to the
St. James Parish governing authority and broadens the purposes for which the fund may be
used.
Present law dedicates the state sales tax collected on the rental of hotel rooms in St. James Parish
to the St. James Parish Enterprise Fund (the fund).  Monies in the fund shall be available exclusively
for the St. James Convention Facility and other multipurpose buildings, including an agricultural
arena and farmer's market.
Proposed law specifies that monies in the fund shall be available for use by the St. James Parish
governing authority and expands the permitted use of the monies in the fund to include the
promotion of tourism and economic development related activities.
Proposed law adds the St. James Parish Tourist Information Welcome Center to the buildings for
which monies in the fund may be available and authorizes the monies in the fund to be used for the
maintenance and repair of parking areas for the Convention Facility and the Tourist Information
Welcome Center.
Effective July 1, 2015.
