Existing law dedicates the state sales tax collected on the rental of hotel rooms in St. James
Parish to the St. James Parish Enterprise Fund (the fund). Monies in the fund are available
exclusively for the acquisition and construction of the St. James Convention Facility and
other multipurpose buildings, including an agricultural arena and farmer's market.
New law specifies that monies in the fund are available for use by the St. James Parish
governing authority and adds that the monies in the fund are available for the promotion of
tourism and economic development-related activities.
New law adds that the monies in the fund are available for the St. James Parish Tourist
Information Welcome Center buildings and the parking areas of the buildings for which the
fund is available for use in existing law and new law. Further adds maintenance and repair
to the purposes for which the monies in the fund may be used.
Effective July 1, 2015.
