Prior law requires that one cent of the four-cent per bushel tax collected be disbursed by the
commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry when authorized by a majority of the La. Sweet
Potato Advertising and Development Commission.
New law increases the amount of the four-cent bushel tax collected from one cent of the
four-cent bushel tax to two cents of the four-cent bushel tax.
Prior law requires that the La. Sweet Potato Association receive one-fourth of the amount
collected for disbursement.
New law decreases the disbursement percentage from one-fourth of the amount collected to
one-eighth of the amount collected.
Prior law requires that the La. Agricultural Experiment Station receive three-fourths of the
amount collected for disbursement.
New law increases the disbursement percentage from three-fourths of the amount collected
to seven-eighths of the amount collected.
Effective Aug. 1, 2015.
