HB 201 Engrossed	2015 Regular Session	Montoucet
Abstract:  Provides for changes to the board of directors of the Acadia Parish Convention and
Visitors Commission.
Present law provides that the governing authority of any parish may form and create a tourist
commission.
Present law specifically creates certain tourist commissions including the Acadia Parish Convention
and Visitors Commission composed of all the territory in Acadia Parish.
Present law provides that, unless provided otherwise, a commission shall be governed by a board of
seven directors to be appointed by the governing authority of the parish.
Present law provides that, unless provided otherwise, appointments shall be made from a list of
nominees submitted to the governing authority by private, nonprofit groups that have an interest in
one or more aspects of the tourism industry.
Proposed law provides for an exception with respect to the Acadia Parish Convention and Visitors
Commission.  Provides that the commission shall be governed by a board of 11 directors; otherwise
retains present law.
