ENROLLED 2015 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 231 BY REPRESENTATIVE THIERRY 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:971(B)(1)(a), (2), and (7), relative to court reporter fees; to 3 authorize an increase in court reporter fees for the Twenty-Seventh Judicial District 4 Court; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 13:971(B)(1)(a), (2), and (7) are hereby amended and reenacted to 7 read as follows: 8 ยง971. Sixteenth and Twenty-Seventh Judicial Districts; additional court reporters; 9 fees charged by court reporters; indigent transcript fund 10 * * * 11 B.(1)(a) In the Twenty-Seventh Judicial District, in all civil cases a fee of 12 two three dollars and fifty cents per page for the original and fifty cents per page for 13 copies reported and transcribed shall be charged by and paid to the court reporter 14 who reports and transcribes the testimony and shall be retained by him as 15 compensation in addition to the salary as provided herein. 16 * * * 17 (2) In all criminal cases, except those involving indigent defendants, a fee 18 of two three dollars and fifty cents per page for the original, and fifty cents for each 19 copy thereafter reported and transcribed shall be paid to the court reporter who 20 reports and transcribes the testimony and shall be retained by him as compensation 21 in addition to the salary as provided herein. HB NO. 231 ENROLLED 1 (7) Court reporters shall be paid two three dollars and twenty-five fifty cents 2 per thirty-one-line page for such work, and twenty-five cents per page for each copy, 3 as funds become available, all such payments to be made from the criminal indigent 4 transcript fund by the court. 5 * * * 6 Section 2. The increase in court costs as provided for in this Act shall become 7 effective if and when the Judicial Council provides a recommendation that such costs meet 8 the applicable guidelines in its 2016 Report to the Louisiana Legislature.
