RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 309 (HB 256) 2015 Regular Session Pope Existing law authorizes municipalities and parishes to execute agreements among themselves to form interlocal risk management agencies, which are formed to develop and administer risk management programs to insure and defend against certain legal claims and to establish group self-insurance funds to self-insure or purchase joint insurance policies for accident and health protection or to insure against public liability or worker's compensation risks. New law authorizes city, parish, or local public school systems to form and participate in interlocal risk management agencies. Existing law authorizes municipalities to designate the La. Municipal Assoc. and parishes to designate the Police Jury Assoc. of La. to administer an interlocal risk management agency. New law authorizes school boards to designate the La. School Board Assoc. to administer such an agency. Existing law authorizes the municipal and police jury associations to become members of such agencies. New law authorizes the school board association to become a member of such an agency. Effective August 1, 2015. (Amends R.S. 33:1342(1), 1343(B) and (F), and 1344)
