Code of Civil Procedure Article 4843(G) and (H) is hereby amended and 8reenacted to read as follows: 9 Art. 4843. City court jurisdiction; amount in dispute; injunctive actions by state or 10 political subdivision 11 * * * 12 G. In the City Court of Abbeville, the City Court of Baker, the City Court 13 of Baton Rouge, the City Court of Kaplan, the City Court of Leesville, the City Court 14 of Minden, the City Court of Plaquemine, the City Court of Shreveport, the City 15 Court of Springhill, and the City Court of Zachary, the civil jurisdiction is concurrent 16 with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute, or the value of the 17 property involved, does not exceed thirty-five thousand dollars. 18 H. Present law provides that in the city courts of Alexandria, Pineville, Slidell, and Ruston, the civil jurisdiction is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute, or the value of the property involved, does not exceed $50,000. Proposed law retains present law and adds the requirement that in the Third Ward City Court of Franklin the jurisdictional amount in dispute or value of property does not exceed $50,000. (Amends C.C.P. Art. 4843(G) and (H)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by House The House Floor Amendments to the engrossed bill: 1. Remove proposed law provision that changes the civil jurisdictional amount in dispute for the city courts of Minden and Springhill from $50,000 to $35,000. 2. Provide that the civil jurisdictional amount in dispute shall not exceed $50,000 for the Third Ward City Court of Franklin.
