[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 306 Original 2015 Regular Session Jackson Abstract: Provides that hunting licenses are not required for the taking of outlaw quadrupeds, nutria, or beaver. Present law allows taking of outlaw quadrupeds, nutria, and beaver at any time of the year during daylight hours except by trapping. On private property, between the last day of February and August 31 each year, outlaw quadrupeds, nutria, and beaver can be taken at night by the landowner or lessee or agent with written permission and the landowner's contact information on his person. The sheriff of the parish where such night hunting on private property will take place must be notified of the intention to do so within 24 hours prior to the hunting. Proposed law provides that neither a basic hunting license nor a big game license is required to hunt outlaw quadrupeds, nutria, or beaver under the circumstances outlined by present law.
