Abstract:  Repeals the authorization to suspend voting rights based on an order of imprisonment for
conviction of a felony.
Present constitution provides that every citizen of the state, upon reaching 18 years of age, shall have
the right to register and vote, except that this right may be suspended while a person is interdicted
and judicially declared mentally incompetent.
Proposed constitutional amendment retains present constitution.
Present constitution additionally provides that the right to register and vote may be suspended while
a person is under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony.
Proposed constitutional amendment repeals present constitution.
Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held
Oct. 24, 2015.
