HB 417 Original	2015 Regular Session	Berthelot
Abstract:  Creates the ALS special prestige license plate.  Provides for fees, distribution of fees,
issuance, creation, and design of the license plate and promulgation of rules.
Proposed law requires the secretary of Dept. of the Public Safety and Corrections to issue special
prestige license plates to be known as the "Challenge ALS" license plates.
Proposed law provides that the ALS Association Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter will select the color
and design of the license.  Specifies that the design shall include the words "Challenge ALS".
Proposed law specifies that the license plate shall be issued, upon application, to any citizen of
Louisiana in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.
Proposed law requires the department to collect an annual royalty fee of $30, as well as a handling
fee of $3.50 for each plate to be retained by the department to offset a portion of administrative costs.
Proposed law provides that monies collected by the department be forwarded to the ALS Association
Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter or its successor organization.  Specifies that the monies will be used
for ALS research.
