RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 88 (HB 50) 2015 Regular Session Danahay Existing law requires the state to pay $300 per month, in addition to the compensation paid by the local employer or other specified employers, to most full-time firefighters and police officers who have completed one year of service. Existing law provides that a reduction of the salary of any firefighter or police officer is void if it is made solely by reason of state supplemental pay. Existing law authorizes employers to enhance the first year salary of firefighters and police officers in an amount up to the state supplemental pay amount. Provides that a salary reduction after the first year by the amount of the enhancement is not void pursuant to existing law relative to salary reductions. Existing law is structured such that provisions applicable to firefighters and provisions applicable to police officers are in separate but parallel statutes. A prior law provision applicable to firefighters contained a reference to a statute in the police officer provisions. New law changes this statutory reference so that it refers to the equivalent provision within the firefighter statutes. Effective upon signature of governor (June 19, 2015).
