HUNTING:  Provides for a bounty on feral hogs
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 56:292, relative to feral hogs; to provide for management and control of feral
3 hog populations; to establish a bounty on feral hogs; to provide for the authority of
4 the secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries; to provide for the authority
5 to enter cooperative endeavor agreements with landowners; to provide for the
6 authority to promulgate rules and regulations; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  R.S. 56:292 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
9 ยง292.  Feral hog control
10	A.  The secretary may enter into a cooperative endeavor agreement with a
11 landowner experiencing damage caused by feral hogs to share the cost of a bounty
12 on feral hogs taken on the landowner's property.  Such agreement shall provide that
13 the department match the landowner's share of the bounty up to two dollars and fifty
14 cents per feral hog towards the total bounty offered and that the department only
15 participate when funds are available.  No bounty shall be paid when funds,
16 personnel, or equipment of the department are employed in taking feral hogs from
17 the landowner's property during the term of the agreement.
18	B.  The secretary shall promulgate rules and regulations, pursuant to the
19 Administrative Procedures Act, necessary to implement this Section.  Such rules and
20 regulations shall provide for the eligibility and application of a landowner to enter

1 the program and the planning, administration, management, and monitoring of the
2 program.

Abstract: Establishes a bounty to control feral hogs.
Proposed law authorizes the secretary of the Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries to enter
cooperative endeavor agreements with landowners to share the cost of a bounty on feral
hogs.  The department matches the landowner's bounty up to $2.50 per feral hog towards the
total bounty offered.
Proposed law provides that the department only participates when funds are available and
no bounty shall be paid when funds, personnel, or equipment of the department are
employed in taking feral hogs from the landowner's property during the term of the
agreement.
Proposed law requires the secretary to promulgate rules and regulations to implement
proposed law.
