HB 540 Original	2015 Regular Session	Ritchie
Abstract: Provides for combination mobility impaired specialty prestige license plates.
Present law requires the commissioner to provide by rules for the transfer of the special plates in the
event the licensee replaces the automobile. Further provides for the commissioner to also provide
by rules for the disposition of the special plates in the event of the sale, gift, or other disposition of
the vehicle by the owner before the expiration of the special plates, where the owner does not wish
to transfer the plates to a new automobile.
Proposed law retains present law except requires the commissioner to promulgate rules and
regulations for issuance of a combination special and mobility impaired prestige license plate.
Further provides that such license plate will have the same size and color as other license plates,
display the registration numbers assigned to the vehicle and to the owner, and be numbered in a
manner prescribed by the department, but the plates will display the international accessible symbol.
