HB 601 Original	2015 Regular Session	Hollis
Abstract: Provides certain age, residence, and domicile requirements for members elected to the
Public Service Commission.
Present law provides for a Public Service Commission.  Further provides for the commission to
consist of 5 members who are qualified electors, elected from single-member districts as provided
by law.  Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law adds requirements for persons elected to the Public Service Commission to be 18 years
old, having lived in the state of La. for the previous 2 years, and having actually been domiciled for
the previous year in the single-member district from which he seeks election, prior to election to the
Public Service Commission.   
Present law requires members to be elected at congressional elections for overlapping terms of 6
years, and requires members to take office and begin their terms on the first day of January following
election.  Proposed law retains present law.
