HOUSE BILL NO. 684

APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the
matter of "Murphy Cormier General Contractor, Inc. v. State of Louisiana,
Department of Health and Hospitals, et al"
1	AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2015-
3 2016 to be used to pay the judgment in the suit entitled "Murphy Cormier General
4 Contractor, Inc. v. State of Louisiana, Department of Health and Hospitals, et al"; to
5 provide for interest; to provide for costs and attorney fees; and to provide for related
6 matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1.  The sum of Seven Million Four Hundred Twelve Thousand Three 
9Hundred Eighty-Three and  No/100 ($7,412,383.00) Dollars, plus legal interest from July
1019, 2007, until paid, plus costs in the amount of One Hundred Ten Thousand Five Hundred
11Seventy-Eight and 31/100 ($110,578.31) Dollars, plus legal interest from December 20,
122011, until paid, plus Third Circuit Court of Appeal costs in the amount of Sixty-Six
13Thousand Three Hundred Sixty-Two and 45/100 ($66,362.45) Dollars, are hereby
14appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2015-2016 to
15be used to pay the  judgment in the suit entitled "Murphy Cormier General Contractor, Inc.
16v. State of Louisiana, Department of Health and Hospitals, et al", bearing Number 2007-
173828, Division "H", on the docket of the Fourteenth Judicial District Court, parish of
18Calcasieu, state of Louisiana;  No. 12-1000 on the docket of the Third Circuit Court of
19Appeal, state of Louisiana; and No. 2013-C-1491 on the docket of the Supreme Court of the
20State of Louisiana.

1 Section 2.  The judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall be deemed to have
2been paid on the effective date of this Act and legal interest shall cease to run as of that date.
3 Section 3.  This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2015; if vetoed by the governor
4and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
52015, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
