RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 289 (HB 71) 2015 Regular Session Mack New law adds to the types of service eligible to be considered in computing of prior service for purposes of receiving state supplemental pay for municipal police and deputy sheriffs. Existing law provides for state supplemental pay of $500 per month for full-time municipal police officers and deputy sheriffs who have completed one year of service. For municipal law enforcement officers, existing law allows prior service as a deputy sheriff or as a certain type of retired state police officer to count towards the one year of service requirement. New law expands prior service to include service as a P.O.S.T.-certified law enforcement officer employed full-time by the Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries or the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections. For deputy sheriffs, existing law allows prior service as a municipal police officer, an enforcement agent of the Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, or certain retired state police officers to count towards the one year of service requirement. New law expands prior service to include service as a P.O.S.T.-certified officer of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections. Effective August 1, 2015. (Amends R.S. 40:1667.1(B))
