HOUSE BILL NO. 847 (Substitute for House Bill No. 710 by Representative Carmody)

1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 3:2772(I) and to enact R.S. 3:2772(J), relative to dog breeders;
3 to require an applicant for initial or renewal kennel license to provide certain
4 information to obtain such license; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 3:2772(I) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 3:2772(J) is
7 hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 ยง2772. Dog, cat, and kennel licenses fee and certificate; records

10 I. At the time of application for an initial or renewal kennel license, an
11 applicant shall provide the governing body of the parish or municipality with a
12 statement that is signed and dated and includes both of the following:
13 (1) The applicant's Class A or Class B animal dealer's license number issued
14 by the United States Department of Agriculture pursuant to provisions of the federal
15 Animal Welfare Act, 7 U.S.C. 2131 et seq., or the reason the applicant is not
16 required to hold either license.
17 (2) The applicant's sales tax identification number or the reason the applicant
18 is not required to have a sales tax identification number.

1 J. Any person who violates the provisions of this Section shall be guilty of
2 a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not more than five hundred
3 dollars or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.
