SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates June 3, 2015, as 4-H Day at the legislature
and commends the state officers of 4-H
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To designate June 3, 2015, as 4-H Day at the legislature and to commend the state executive
3board officers of 4-H.
4 WHEREAS, LSU AgCenter 4-H program participants gain knowledge and life skills
5that enable them to become positive, productive, and compassionate members of their
6communities; and
7 WHEREAS, 4-H has three primary program initiatives: citizenship; healthy living;
8and science, engineering, and technology; and
9 WHEREAS, 4-H youth learn leadership and life skills through a variety of projects
10on topics such as outdoor skills, aerospace, animal science, nutrition, forestry, and
11community service; and
12 WHEREAS, "Learn by Doing" is the 4-H slogan which encourages members to
13prepare themselves intellectually, emotionally, and physically for opportunities to improve
14their lives and the communities in which they live; and
15 WHEREAS, the Louisiana 4-H Youth Development program continues to expand
16to meet the needs of youth, with participation exceeding two hundred forty thousand
17members across the state; and
18 WHEREAS, through its extraordinary record of research, education, youth
19development, and community service, Louisiana 4-H is an invaluable asset to the LSU
20AgCenter and the state of Louisiana; and

1 WHEREAS, today more than twelve hundred 4-H members and volunteers from all
2sixty-four parishes are at the capitol for the fourteenth annual 4-H Day meeting legislators
3and learning about the legislative process.
4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
5designate June 3, 2015, as 4-H Day at the legislature.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana also recognizes and
7commends the 2014-2015 state 4-H Executive Board officers as follows: Peyton Arthur,
8President; Josey Hemperley, Vice President; Coy Bailey, Secretary; Ashlyn Tullis,
9Historian/Reporter; and Kadan Guillory, Parliamentarian.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
11to the state president of the 4-H executive board.
