HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 128
BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Ethan Laine Coker of Haynesville High School upon
being named Louisiana's Middle School Student of the Year
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Ethan Laine Coker of Haynesville High School in Claiborne Parish for being
3 named Louisiana's Middle School Student of the Year.
4 WHEREAS, Ethan Laine Cooker, an eighth grade student at Haynesville High
5School, was named Louisiana Middle School Student of the Year; and
6 WHEREAS, Ethan Coker is the son of Keith and Lauribeth Padgett of Haynesville,
7Louisiana; and
8 WHEREAS, his dedication to academic achievement and drive to do his best at all
9times are evident as he is a 4.0 student, a Duke TIP program medallion winner, and is
10currently enrolled in three high school courses; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Coker has made ADVANCED on all state tests he has taken, and
12as a seventh grade student, he  made a perfect score on the ELA, Math, and Social Studies
13portion of the iLEAP test and attained a score of twenty-four on the ACT; and
14 WHEREAS, in addition to academic success, Mr. Coker is an active 4-H member
15and serves as his school's 4-H club president; in recognition of his outstanding participation
16in 4-H, he has received numerous parish, regional, and state awards, and he has been an
17active participant of the Claiborne Parish 4-H outdoor skill club; and
18 WHEREAS, he has also served as president of the Claiborne Parish Livestock Club
19for four years; he is a member of the American Boer Goat Association , the American Dairy
20Goat Association, and the Louisiana Junior Show Circuit; and

1 WHEREAS, Mr. Coker is a very compassionate individual who volunteers his time
2to raise money for St. Jude, 4-H, and the Louisiana Junior Show Circuit; he has volunteered
3many hours of service to 4-H through livestock workshops, junior leader service hours, and
4the Annual Canned Food Drive; and
5 WHEREAS, he enjoys spending Friday nights during football season as a
6videographer for the Haynesville High School football team; and
7 WHEREAS, in his spare time, Mr. Coker enjoys hunting, fishing, reading, and
8playing video games and the guitar; and
9 WHEREAS, after graduating from high school, Ethan Coker plans to attend college
10and major in biology or engineering; and
11 WHEREAS, Ethan Laine Coker is a talented Louisiana student who demonstrates
12impeccable leadership and a commitment to excellence that is truly commendable, and he
13is most deserving of the Louisiana Middle School Student of the Year award.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
15commend Ethan Laine Coker upon being named the Louisiana Middle School Student of the
16Year; does hereby recognize his remarkable academic accomplishments; and does hereby
17wish Ethan full measures of success and happiness in years to come.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
19to Ethan Laine Coker.
